ABOUT TOORAN POPAL

Tooran Popal was born in 1974 in Kabul, Afghanistan, into a prosperous family. His early childhood was filled with security and simple joys, but that peace ended on Christmas Eve 1979 when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan. Between the ages of five and ten, he witnessed events no child should—violence, the loss of neighbors and friends, and the arrest and torture of his father. These experiences shaped his understanding of injustice and the value of freedom.

To escape the dangers of war, Tooran and his family embarked on a seven-day journey on foot through Afghanistan’s mountains, eventually reaching safety in Pakistan. After years as refugees, they immigrated to the United States, arriving without English skills or financial resources. Adapting to a new culture, overcoming language barriers, and facing discrimination were challenges that required resilience and determination.

Through perseverance, Tooran built a successful career in business, becoming one of the youngest general managers of a major company at age 22. He continued to grow multiple ventures, applying dedication and skill to achieve professional success. Despite these accomplishments, he never forgot his roots or the people still suffering in Afghanistan.

Tooran founded the Tooran Popal Charity Foundation to support schools, widows, orphans, and disabled individuals in remote villages. He also launched a political platform focused on transparency and justice, though shifting conditions in Afghanistan led him to refocus on humanitarian work. His life reflects resilience, service, and a commitment to improving the lives of others in the face of adversity.
